Local non-profit raises money for postpartum families with fitness fundraiser in Easthampton

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – The city of Easthampton is taking action to support families in need with a month-long fundraising effort.

It’s being led the local non-profit, ‘It Takes A Village’ . The initiative aims to raise money for the health and well-being of families, especially those who are postpartum. The fundraiser kicked off Friday with an event at Fitness Fusion, offering a women strength training class customized to support the postpartum body.

“It’s so heartening to see other people say yes I want to help this is important to me. So everyone who showed up today and of course the folks at Fitness Fusion and Strong as a Mother..it gives me a lot of confidence that we can make some really big changes, said Development and Outreach Director at ‘It Takes A Village’, Mollie Hartford.

The ‘Spring into Movement” event continues on May 17th at On Pointe Barre & Fitness in Pittsfield. It will conclude with a Barre class on May 31st at Common Ground in Greenfield.

All proceeds from the events will go directly to support the non-profit’s mission to provide free postpartum and early parting support to families with babies and young children living in Western Massachusetts.
