It's been a month, and no one has shown an interest in applying for the vacant Dunnellon City Council seat.

City officials hope someone will submit their application to be considered for the position.

He or she would replace Chuck Dillon , who last month decided to leave the seat. Dillon's resignation was effective April 3.

Dillon had replaced former council member Juliane Mendonca in December. Mendonca left because she declined to submit Form 6, the controversial form that requires office holders to disclose financial information.

A businessman and longtime Dunnellon resident, Dillon had previously served on the council. If Dillon had remained on the council, he would've faced re-election this year.

City council members and the mayor serve four-year staggered terms, and the mayor is one of five people on the council. Before taxes, the salary is $150 monthly.

Anyone interested in the job can pick up an application at City Hall or at dunnellon.org . The person selected to be on the council must be willing to complete Form 6. The deadline to return the application is May 30 at noon.
