Downtown Rochester sports bar closes after a decade
Downtown Rochester sports bar The Exchange at 251 Exchange Blvd., across from Corn Hill Landing, has closed after 10 years. An auction of the establishment’s contents was held from Jan. 23 to Feb. 2, a representative of RestaurantEquipment.bid confirmed. When we visited during advertised business hours on Feb. 6, the doors were locked and the building was empty. Attempts to reach the business owners by phone and social media were unsuccessful. The Exchange replaced another bar and grill, Nathaniel’s Pub, which opened in 2001 and closed by 2019. For many years prior to that, 251 Exchange was home to legendary bar and restaurant Earl’s Grill. It closed in 1984 and its home, a Civil War-era brick building, was bull-dozed for an urban renewal project. More: Whatever happened to Earl's Grill?
