Cumberland County man pleads guilty to stabbing ex-girlfriend
A man who police say nearly stabbed his ex-girlfriend to death in 2023 and later tried to hire fellow inmates to kill her and witnesses to the assault has pleaded guilty. Jonathan M. Lepperd, 44, of Carlisle, entered his guilty pleas on Wednesday in the Cumberland County District Attorney’s office to criminal attempt to first-degree murder, retaliation against victim, fleeing and eluding police, and criminal solicitation to first-degree murder.

An electrical fire at Cumberland-Perry Area Vocational Technical School prompted the evacuation of students and staff on Friday morning.
