Meetings air concerns about proposed short-term rental regs
LOGAN- A series of meetings were held in the commissioners’ office this week to discuss short term rental ordinances and allow for community members to ask questions and provide input before any decisions are made. Among the concerns raised at the meeting was added financial pressure from the new regulations. The district hired Lewis in June 2020 after he spent seven years as superintendent of Miami Trace Local Schools in Fayette County. “This was not an easy decision, because Newark has meant so much to me,” Lewis said in the release. “I am grateful to our staff, families and Board of Education for seven wonderful years. What makes this district special is its people, and I know Newark Schools will keep building on the momentum we have created together.” During his tenure, the district opened a food pantry to serve students experiencing food insecurity and created the Alternative Academy so students could catch up on credits to remain on track to graduate. Lewis also helped lead the relocation of the preschool program into the former State Farm building . The program was previously across four facilities, and staff said the
