Major Pattern Flip Drops Highs Into the 40s and 50s Across Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay and Chicago as Strong Cold Front Ends the Summer Like Warmth in the Midwest
MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN — The summer-like warmth across the Midwest is about to come to an end. The European model shows a big pattern flip arriving around Thursday, November 5. A strong cold front is forecast to send high temperatures down into the 40s and 50s across much of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes. Forecast temperatures for that day show a sharp split across the front, with readings in the 30s and 40s across Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, while areas ahead of the front in Ohio and Indiana stay in the 60s. The exact timing could shift, but the idea of a major pattern change is gaining support across the latest forecast models.

A brief return to late October temperatures
This weekend did not feel like we were heading into the last week of October, as highs climbed into the low 70s, almost 20 degrees above average for late October. However, a cold front moved through yesterday, bringing back a more seasonable late October feel. The front shifted our winds to the north, making today a bit breezy. Northerly winds bring in cooler, more seasonable air. Temperatures this morning are around 50 degrees and won’t warm much throughout the day, with highs only reaching the low 50s. That’s much closer to what we would expect for late October.
