Dublin making plenty of news
Getting your Trinity Audio player ready... Dublin has been in the Bay Area news for a variety of reasons over the last couple of weeks. On the positive side, Dublin High announced former Raider All-Pro Napoleon Kaufman as its new football coach. Kaufman retired from the Raiders after being led to Christ by a third-string fullback and then founded The Well church. Its original site was in Dublin where Kaufman got to know former Dublin Mayor, current Athletic Director Tim Sbranti. Sbranti reached out to Kaufman, who was quoted as saying it was the perfect job for him.

New Oakland ‘B’s’ preparing for inaugural season
“We’re stealing baseball back for Oakland. Fans first. Oakland forever.”. That’s the tag line for the Oakland Ballers social media accounts. The Oakland City Council is supporting these sentiments, as they unanimously agreed last week to negotiate and execute a one-year lease with the Oakland Ballers for the Raimondi Park baseball field. The agreement should receive final approval from the council next week.

Piedmont softball scores pair of big wins
The Piedmont High School softball team recorded a pair of 10-run victories to put its record to 8-4 on the year (4-2 West Alameda County Conference). On April 17, the Highlanders hammered visiting Hayward 11-1 in a game shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. Piedmont scored three in the first, two in the second, three in the third, and two in the fourth to take control early. Miya Fujimoto went the distance for the victory, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out nine. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring two runs and knocking in two including one on a triple in the third inning. She ended the game in the bottom of the fifth by singling in Mia Leggett.
