CC)—The Enid Mayor and Board of Commissioners Thursday night approved the purchase of 160 acres of land for $1.2 million for the expansion of the existing industrial park. Officials said the additional land was bought to make the industrial park on 66th Street more marketable and to attract larger businesses. The city approved a sales tax revenue note in July 2023 that allowed Enid Municipal Authority to borrow an amount no more than $5 million to buy land near 66th. Stride Bank loaned $5 million to the city, with $2.4 million that was approved to purchase 398 acres during an August 2023 commission meeting. The purchase of the additional 160 acres is funded with the same loan from Stride Bank, and will give the city 560 acres to add to the industrial park in the area. In other business, commissioners approved appointments of members to the Public Library of Enid and Garfield County Board of Directors and the Enid Park & Recreation Board of Directors. Trudi Bandy was selected to join the library board. Commissioners voted to approve the appointment of James Cheatham, Nicole Winfield and Donald John to the Park & Recreation Board.

HR)--A local man remains hospitalized and an Enid woman was arrested after of a pedestrian hit-and-run accident early Tuesday on West Wabash. Enid Police officials said 63 year-old William Blom was crossing north in the 900 block West Wabash about 6:15 Tuesday morning when he was hit by the Infiniti QX 60 SUV driven by 46 year-old Joy Patel which had just turned eastbound off of South Van Buren. When he arrived, the responding officer found Blom on the ground. A man on the scene told the officer that Blom was walking from his truck, which was parked on the north side of Wabash, to the driveway of Istoria in the 800 block of South Van Buren, when he was hit by an SUV. Video from Istoria showed the driver, got out of the vehicle and looked at Blom before getting back into the SUV and fled eastbound at a high rate of speed. Blom was initially transported to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center before being airlifted to OKC for treatment of serious injuries including internal bleeding, broken ribs and other internal injuries. After a witness tracked down Patel’s vehicle, police responded to Integris Bass where she works and spoke with her before taking her into custody and transporting her to the Garfield County Jail where she was booked on complaints of Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Injury Accident, Duty to Render Aid.
