DOTHAN, Ala. ( WDHN ) —A Dothan woman accused of killing a man almost six years ago has withdrawn her self-defense hearing.

On Wednesday, Nafeesah Thomas was supposed to appear in the Houston County courtroom for a “stand your ground” hearing.

Just minutes before her hearing, it was revealed that she withdrew her request.

In 2018, Thomas was arrested after allegedly stabbing and killing Mikel Cummings inside his home on Florida Avenue.

The case was determined to be domestic-related and Thomas was charged with one count of murder.

Alabama’s “stand your ground” law allows people to use force, even deadly, if they are defending themselves or their family without the option to retreat.
