DEWITT, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — DeWitt Police Chief Chase Bilodeau will resign from his position after being put on administrative leave last month.

The DeWitt Town Board unanimously accepted an agreement for Bilodeau’s resignation at a special board meeting Monday morning.

The DeWitt Town Supervisor read a limited statement to conclude the meeting. In part, he said: “The town board voted this morning to accept an agreement in principal that will allow the Town of DeWitt and Chief Bilodeau to part ways upon terms that are mutually agreeable The Town of DeWitt Board expects the agreement to be finalized by the end of the week.”

The reason for the chief’s exit or suspension were not shared. Bilodeau was placed on administrative leave by a unanimous vote of the town board on April 18 .

At the time, town supervisor would only say: “The Town Board is actively reviewing the Town of Dewitt Police Chief position. As this is a personnel matter, the Town will have no comment until the review is complete.”

The town board also voted Monday to begin a search for a replacement police chief. Captain Brenton White has been serving as the interim chief since Bilodeau’s suspension.
