Denver has its own 'hot dog style' – but you've probably never tried it before

As summer holiday season starts to get underway, there's no doubt many Americans are looking forward to hot dogs hot off the grill. But did you know that Colorado – well, technically Denver – has it's own 'style' when it comes to this classic genre of cuisine.

You've probably heard of the Chicago dog – pickles, celery salt, tomatoes, pickled peppers, chopped onions, and 'neon' green relish on a poppy seed bun. You've probably heard of the 'Coney'-style dog, topped with chili, onions, and a pile of finely-shredded cheese. You may even know about the 'Dodger' dog, with its popular mix of ketchup, mustard, onion, and relish. But you probably haven't heard of the 'Denver' dog – yet.

According to a food company known for their sausages – Applegate – the 'Denver Dog' is topped with green chile, red onions, jalapeños, and sour cream – a hot dog with "miles of flavor" for the Mile High City. It's a spicy, tangy, creamy mix of ingredients that aren't always found on the toppings table at the summer barbecue.

Give it a try and let us know what you think!
