American Airlines flight diverts to Denver because of medical issue on board

DENVER (KDVR) — An American Airlines flight from the West Coast diverted to Denver on Thursday afternoon.

American Airlines flight 1585 departed Los Angeles International Airport at 1:39 p.m. PDT en route to Chicago O’Hare International Airport, according to records on FlightAware .

The flight had to divert to Denver International Airport “due to the medical needs of a customer,” American Airlines said in a statement. “Upon landing safely at DEN, the aircraft was met by first responders who transported the passenger to hospital.”

FlightAware shows the plane landed in Denver at 4:57 p.m. MDT and departed for Chicago at 6:24 p.m. MDT. The flight was expected to arrive around 9:24 p.m. CDT.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank our customers for their understanding,” American Airlines said in the statement.
