Denver Nuggets star big man Nikola Jokic just won his third NBA Most Valuable Award. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks were among those expected to give Jokic a tough challenge in the MVP race but ended up placing second and third in the MVP voting, respectively.

While many continue to debate the order of finish of the top three contenders even after the results were released, one thing that caught the fans' attention was that Sacramento Kings star Domantas Sabonis ended up ninth in the voting.

Sabonis earned a lone fourth-place vote to garner three points overall. For what it's worth, he finished higher than Phoenix Suns bucket-getter and future Hall of Famer Kevin Durant, who only had a point off of a single fifth-place vote.

The internet can't seem to wrap its head around Sabonis getting not just a Defensive Player of the Year vote but also one for the MVP race.

Sabonis, who also finished seventh in MVP voting in 2023, was a double-double machine for the Kings in the 2023-24 NBA campaign in which he averaged 19.4 points, 13.7 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game.
