Brian Windhorst calls out Jamal Murray for Playoff conduct: "He completely lost his composure because he is getting exploited by the Wolves"

Denver Nuggets star guard Jamal Murray had one of his worst playoff games from a scoring standpoint in the team’s Game 2 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday. He scored just eight points and missed all but three of his 18 shots from the field, including all four of his 3-point attempts.

Murray’s frustrations boiled over in the second quarter when he tossed a heating pad at an official. Surprisingly, he was not assessed a technical foul for his actions.

Windhorst calls out Murray’s behavior in Game 2

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst seemingly took exception to Murray’s decision to throw a heating pad and is of the belief that he will receive a fine as punishment.

“I have never seen anything like it. First off, he is 100 percent inexcusably out of line there. He’s completely lost his composure because he’s getting exploited by the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves watched the last series, saw that his calf injury was bothering him, which Michael Malone has admitted, and they are exploiting him. He is getting taken advantage of on the court. He hates it, and it’s leading him to make some wild decisions,” Windhorst said.

The Nuggets scored just 80 points as a team in Game 2 and lost by 26 points as the series now shifts to Minnesota for Games 3 and 4.

“He throws a towel — and of course a towel, it’s not a big deal — but you can’t throw a towel at the official. That’s what he’s doing. He throws a towel at the official, it comes up short. When he realizes that it’s hard to throw a towel 20 feet, he picks up something heavier and flings it at the official. Now, the NBA is gonna interview him, and he may give some answer,” the ESPN analyst said.

Murray and the Nuggets’ season is now in jeopardy

After dropping Games 1 and 2 at home, the Nuggets are in a 0-2 series hole.

It’s worth mentioning that teams who have lost the first two games of an NBA playoff series have gone on to advance just 7.3 percent of the time, with the most recent team to accomplish this feat being last year’s Golden State Warriors . However, the Warriors’ situation was a bit different, as the team lost Games 1 and 2 on the road instead of at home.

If Murray can’t regain his composure and get going from an offensive standpoint in the next two games of the second-round playoff series at the Target Center, the Nuggets’ quest to repeat as NBA champions could soon be coming to an abrupt and disappointing end.
