DENVER ( KDVR ) — People across Denver are keeping a closer eye on their vehicles after multiple residents’ tires were slashed in the span of a few days.

Now, residents believe one suspect is responsible for dozens of tire-slashings in the Denver metro area.

At midnight on Wednesday, residential security cameras picked up a man slashing the tires of a Honda parked on the street.

Just minutes before, Kevin Zepp, who lives just down the alley from where this happened, said his tire was slashed.

“One of the neighbors in this building heard my tire hissing,” he said.

Zepp didn’t realize what happened until a friend coming up the alley noticed his truck’s tire was flat.

“He said, ‘You know your tire’s flat,'” Zepp said. “So, I started looking at it more closely and I was like, oh, there’s a knife hole in it. So, that’s how I knew that someone had stabbed it and I didn’t just run over a nail.”

The next day, just before midnight, another car was struck, this time hitting all four tires of a car parked in a driveway.

Around midnight on this same day, Griffin Proietti, who lives a few miles west of where this happened, heard his tires get slashed.

“At about 11 p.m. on that night, I live like right against the street, and I heard something deflating or something popping,” he said.

A short while later, he went outside to find not only his tires slashed but many of his neighbors’ tires flat as well.

“All my neighbors were pretty shaken and, I don’t know, we feel a little unsafe now,” Proietti said.

Proietti then posted about his experience on the community app Nextdoor , which reached multiple people with similar experiences.

“I had noticed over the past two weeks some tires here and there but it didn’t really start to add up,” Zepp said. “Then, the other night I saw on Nextdoor that a whole bunch of cars down by the Capitol got their tires slashed.”

More recently, Zepp said he spotted the alleged suspect running down his alley. The person was eventually confronted by neighbors. Come to find out, Zepp believes the suspect lives just a few houses down from him.

“I know exactly where he lives because the neighbors chased him to his house,” Zepp said.

Due to the randomness of the incidents with no real motive, people living nearby are now unsettled by the idea that the suspect still has not been caught.

“I just honestly assumed it was someone just having a bad day or something like that,” Proietti said. “But, it was just something completely bigger than I thought. And I really hope this guy gets caught.”

It is worth noting authorities have not yet said if all these tire-slashing incidents are connected.

FOX31 reached out to the Denver Police Department and is waiting to hear back.
