1 arrested in deadly overnight shooting in Green Valley Ranch

DENVER ( KDVR ) — One suspect was arrested in connection to a deadly shooting Wednesday night in the Green Valley Ranch neighborhood.

Valerie London-Griffin, 59, is being held on investigation of second-degree murder in the killing of a 59-year-old man, according to a release from the Denver Police Department.

The shooting happened just before 9 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 3900 block of North Malta Street, police said.

“Preliminary information indicates that this was a domestic violence incident and that the suspect and victim were involved in an altercation prior to the shooting,” according to the release.

On Wednesday night, police said one person was transported to the hospital with an unknown extent of injuries, but they said an hour later that the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

On Thursday morning, police said a suspect had been arrested on investigation of manslaughter. Police said later on Thursday that after further investigation and consulting with the Denver District Attorney’s Office, officers held the suspect on investigation of second-degree murder.

The Office of the Medical Examiner will release the victim’s identity, and the district attorney’s office will determine final charges, police said.
