Denver-based brunch place Snooze A.M. Eatery is cooking up some new projects.

The brunch chain will temporarily close its original location in Denver's Ballpark neighborhood this summer for a major renovation project and move its Union Station restaurant into a bigger spot within the transit hub, Snooze A.M. announced Tuesday.

The renovations will cost $3.5 million.

“Denver is our home, our birthplace, and it’s important to us that we continue to invest in this city and these neighborhoods so that we can continue to give back to our community,” the chain’s CEO David Birzon said in a statement.

Snooze A.M. will expand its Ballpark home at 2262 Larimer St. from 2,800 square feet to 4,100 square feet. The renovation is set to preserve the historic architecture of the building and most of the extra space will enlarge the kitchen.

The restaurant will close June 3 and plans to reopen in July.

The brunch place offering extravagant meals such as habanero pork belly eggs benedict, sweet potato bacon smash up and pineapple upside down pancakes first opened in Denver in 2006. It grew to 70 locations nationwide in states including California, Nevada, Texas, Kansas, Arizona, Missouri, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

The second large project will be opening a larger Snooze A.M. restaurant in Union Station by September.

Snooze said there’ll be no transitional closures between its old spot and its new one.

The new Union Station restaurant will have 230 seats, over 100 more than its current location, and a large patio.

It will also have a different design than its other restaurants with décor like vintage ski town posters and nods to historic Colorado and Union Station.

“We’re excited for this restaurant to open in its new location, not only because it’s going to provide a larger space and more seats,” Birzon said, “but also because it will feature some new designs and features that will be unique to this Snooze.”
