Habersham Co. Personnel respond to Three-Vehicle Wreck involving School Bus
A school bus with no students aboard and two other vehicles were involved in a wreck on West Louise Street in Clarkesville just after 4pm Thursday. Habersham County E-911 received the call of the crash at 4:02pm, with the callers stating it was in front of United Community Bank and that a van was overturned with one person trapped inside it. Units from Habersham County Emergency Services, Habersham Community Paramedicine, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, Clarkesville Police Department, Clarkesville Fire Department, Demorest Fire Department, Demorest Police Department, and Habersham County Schools Police Department all were dispatched and responded. All three drivers were transported by ambulance. The road and subsequent response blocked West Louise Street (Historic Highway 441) for more than two hours. Habersham County Emergency Services Med 21, Med 12, Med 9, Captain 1, Battalion 1, 811, and PIO responded, along with Clarkesville Engine 3, Squad 3, and 351, Demorest Engine 5 and 551. Habersham County Animal Care and Control also responded to temporarily assist with an animal out of one of the vehicles until a family member arrived to take custody. The Georgia State Patrol investigated the wreck. The road was reopened by about 6:15pm.
Multi-Vehicle Wreck Tuesday snarls Ga. 365 Southbound Traffic
Units responded at 2:56 Tuesday afternoon, April 23, to a multiple-vehicle wreck on Ga. 365 southbound between Demorest-Mt. Airy Highway and Iron Ore Road. Four vehicles, including one towing a small boat on a trailer, were involved in the collision. Both southbound lanes were blocked for about 20 minutes, then one lane reopened. The road fully reopened at 4:30pm. Habersham County Emergency Services Med 21, Captain 1, and PIO responded, along with Demorest Fire Department Engine 5 and units from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office. One driver complained of injuries, but no one was transported from the scene for medical care. Georgia State Patrol Post 7 Toccoa is investigating.
