Deerfield baseball defeated by Columbus

The Columbus pitching staff of Griffin Corrado and Ryely Nachreiner held the Demons in check as the Deerfield baseball team fell 4-2 to the Cardinals on Monday, April 15 at Deerfield High School.

Corrado earned the win, pitching five innings and allowing two runs (one earned). Nachreiner secured the save, pitching two innings in relief.

For Columbus, Luke Kahl scored Riley Kaminski on an RBI single in the top of the second inning.

In the third inning, Jefferson Mobry scored on an RBI groundout from Axell Allain and Brady Link drove in Nachreiner on an RBI single. In the seventh, Nachreiner scored on a fielding error for the fourth Columbus run.

For Deerfield, sophomore Landon Brattlie scored on a sacrifice fly out from senior Adam Suess in the bottom of the first inning. Junior Aiden Brown hit an RBI single to score senior Jackson Drobac in the third.

Hahn pitched five innings in relief, recording six strikeouts. Suess started on the mound for Deerfield, pitching two innings and allowing three runs (two earned).

Deerfield is 3-2 on the season and 2-0 in the Trailways-South Conference.
