Suspect arrested after body found in Deep River home

DEEP RIVER, Conn. (WTNH) – A suspect is in custody after police found a body in a home in Deep River.

According to state police, troopers responded to a disturbance around 3:36 p.m on Maritone Lane. Troopers remained on the scene for hours.

Police have yet to confirm the identity of the victim and have not released the cause of death.

A suspect has been taken into custody in Massachusetts and police said there is no danger to the public.

A neighbor who spoke with News 8 said the home is an Airbnb and had met people who stayed there recently.

“We just met the folks who came into town. It’s a quiet town, this has never happened here. Very genuine, nice guy, I’ve been talking to both of them,” said Joe Ostering. “They’ve both come down, only been here a few weeks but this is just a terrible incident and hopefully it doesn’t happen again anywhere.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
