Softball Game Preview: Cromwell Heads Out
The Cromwell Panthers will head out on the road to face off against the North Branford Thunderbirds at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Cromwell fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Hale Ray on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 8-5 to the Noises. Cromwell has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Boys’ Lacrosse Earns Senior Night Win, Girls’ Lacrosse Wins Twice
The Old Saybrook boys’ lacrosse team has locked up the No. 1 seed on the shoreline. The boys posted three key wins vs. H-K, Morgan, and Cromwell. In the game vs. Morgan, the Rams paid tribute to their nine seniors: captains Brayden Cody, Will Masselli, and Aiden D'Anna, as well as Ngwang Choegyal, Brenden Hagelston, Holden LeMire, Lucas Webb, Jacob DeAngelo, and Patty Sheahan. Under the lights, the Rams played aggressively and jumped out to an unassailable lead, beating the Huskies 23-6. Wes Percival went an amazing 9-0 facing off for Old Saybrook, while Grey Richards went 9-3, Brandon Hestor went 3-0, and Ethan Lane went 4-2.
Baseball Wins Twice, Outdoor Track Stays on Top
The H-K baseball team hosted Middletown on May 13 and won 1-0. Matt Shea pitched a complete game no-hitter and struck out eight batters. H-K scored in the seventh inning, when Luke Mauri tripled to start the inning and with one out, Garrett Mitchell singled to center for the walk-off win.
ECC will crown tournament champs in eight sports this week
First up is track and field. That begins a jam-packed week in which eight Eastern Connecticut Conference sports will crown champions, from track and field Monday, boys’ and girls’ tennis Wednesday, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse and softball Thursday and baseball Friday. Following is a sneak peak:

Girls’ Outdoor Track Continues to Shine, Baseball Wins a Pair
On April 15, Guilford golf traveled to Alling Memorial Golf Club to take on East Haven in the first match of season winning with a score of 158-197. The medalist for the match was Guilford’s captain, Andrew Beauton. He shot a 1-under-par 35, followed by Daniel Pearce (39), and a pair of 42s from Anthony Cerino and Kelley Webster.
