    KHSAA finalizes 2025-26 football alignment

Area football teams know who their district opponents will be in the 2025 and ’26 seasons after the KHSAA Board of Control finalized an alignment at its meeting Wednesday in Lexington.

Boyle County will play in a district that looks very much like its current district in Class 4A, while Danville will be in a completely different district in Class 2A.

The KHSAA board approved requests by Taylor County, Bardstown and LaRue County to move from the districts they were placed in in a draft alignment that was approved in February, and those moves affected the districts that will contain local teams.

Here are the districts that will contain local teams in 2025-26:

    • District 2A-4 – Danville, Lexington Christian, Shawnee, Washington County, W.E.B. DuBois.
    • District 3A-4 – Bardstown, Casey County, Garrard County, Lexington Catholic, Mercer County.
    • District 4A-7 – Boyle County, Lincoln County, Russell County, Wayne County
