The first game between the Edmonton Oilers and the Dallas Stars was an absolute thriller. It went into double overtime, with the Oilers emerging victorious and taking the series lead. The Stars, showing their mettle, will attempt to level the series in Game 2 on Saturday.
It was a testament to the Edmonton Oilers' chemistry when Leon Draisaitl , with an assist by Brett Kulak, got the first point on the board. This was followed by another goal, this time by Zach Hyman , with an assist from the team's star player, Connor McDavid.
Tyler Seguin stepped up for the Stars and scored both their goals, forcing the game into overtime. Even the first overtime was a tense affair, with no goals scored. It was only in the second overtime that Connor McDavid sealed the victory for the Oilers with a goal. Game 1 was a nail-biter and setting the scene for Game 2.
Robert B. Hayek writes: 'When the Stars lost Game 1 against the Colorado Avalanche, they bounced back for a 4-3 win over the Avs. Significantly, they only defeated the Avalanche by more than one goal in one game, and it was a road game. We expect this game to once again go down to the wire. Overall, the Oilers are incredibly solid and will do everything they can to steal Game 2 for a commanding lead. The Stars have not been as good at home as they have been on the road. Consequently, this will be close, with the Oilers covering the spread."
Staff writes: "Considering the momentum and recent performances, the Oilers seem poised to capitalize on the Stars’ recent form. However, the Stars’ ability to bounce back, especially at home, should not be underestimated. This game could likely be high-scoring, and betting on the OVER might be a wise choice."
