ROCKWALL, Texas — A 61-year-old Dallas resident, Larry Lee Davis, was convicted of felony theft of property on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, despite having a history of 30 separate theft-related convictions. The Rockwall County jury's verdict led to Davis being sentenced to a decade in prison by District Judge David E. Rakow.

Jurors were presented with evidence by lead prosecutor Julien Tagnon, which revealed that Davis had purchased four leaf blowers from Four Brothers Outdoor Power business in Royse City on June 29, 2022, using a fraudulent check. When the check was found to be drawn on a fictitious account, the store contacted Davis, who failed to return the property or pay for the items. Testimonies from Royse City Police Department Officer Walter Wawra and Detective Steve Tigert detailed their investigation leading to Davis's arrest.

Further investigation revealed Davis's extensive criminal history, which included a federal conviction for Equity Skimming, Organized Criminal Activity, and nearly 30 separate offenses of theft and fraud dating back to the mid-1980s.

"The jury today sent a strong message that stealing from businesses, whether large or small, will not be tolerated in Rockwall County," said Assistant District Attorney Julien Tagnon. He praised the collaborative effort between law enforcement, Four Brothers, and American National Bank of Texas, which led to the successful prosecution of Davis.

Rockwall County District Attorney Kenda Culpepper reaffirmed the county's stance on theft offenses, stating, "We prosecute theft offenses in Rockwall County. Count on it."
