Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson.

Klay Thompson's possible final game as a Warrior wasn't his best endorsement heading into this summer's free agency. The 0-of-10 outing capped off his worst statistical season since 2012-13 as Thompson's regression was palpable on both ends of the floor, especially the defensive side of the ball.

By Thompson's standards, it was a mediocre campaign. However, the future Hall of Famer had a pretty good season by regular NBA standards, averaging 17.9 points at 38.7 percent three-point shooting. Most teams in the league would love to have that nightly production and veteran presence.

According to The Athletic's Sam Amick , the Dallas Mavericks are "worth watching" as a possible suitor for Thompson in the July free-agency period. Amick noted that the Orlando Magic, with as much as $60 million in salary-cap space, are still "playing the wild-card role" as the favorites to pry Thompson away from Golden State, but the Mavericks are a team to keep an eye on.

The report added that Grayson Allen's four-year, $70 million extension with the Suns could determine Thompson's price tag in free agency. While he doesn't boast the resume of Thompson, Allen brings a similar skill set to the table as a sharpshooter capable of playing defense.

While Steve Kerr and Draymond Green expect Thompson to remain a Warrior , there's momentum building for one half of the Splash Brothers to switch jerseys next year.

According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, Thompson is "very open to seeing his marketplace in free agency" and he is expected to meet with several teams before making a final decision.

Thompson hinted as much during his season-ending news conference.
