Bainbridge to host police versus fire departments softball game
The Bainbridge fire and police departments will play their inaugural softball game at 2 p.m. June 22 at River Road Park at 17535 Chagrin River Road in Bainbridge Township. There will also be a 50/50 raffle and touch-a-truck event. The raffles proceeds will go to Shop-With-a-Cop and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Raffle tickets will cost $5 per ticket or five tickets for $20, and the winner must also be present to win.
Waverly baseball shuts out Washington, advances to Division II regional finals
ATHENS — Hunter Hauck shook his nerves as he stepped up for his final inning on the mound. The Waverly pitcher had thrown six shutout innings to that point. All Thursday afternoon, Hauck stood firm on the mound, fighting nerves and the blustering winds that blew in from the northwest over Bob Wren Stadium. Waverly held a two-run lead over Washington heading into the seventh inning of the Division II regional semifinals, and all Hauck needed was three outs.
