He made his major-label debut with the 2011 EP “The Bright Lights,” introducing himself as a powerhouse blues-based guitarist who easily veered into psychedelia and other styles. He expanded his range, instrumentation and lyrical subjects on his four full-length albums: 2012’s “Black and Blu,” 2015’s “The Story of Sonny Boy Slim,” 2019’s “This Land” and his latest, “JPEG RAW.”
