Lady Rams fall against defending region champ
In a series that was by and large determined by the pitchers - Hayden Mowrey of S&S and Cambree Oakes of Rains - something had to give in the third game of their best-of-three series. Mowrey hit a game-winning three-run home run in the Lady Rams’ 10-7 series-opening win, and Oakes returned the favor in the second game with a three-run blast of her own that gave the Lady Cats a 4-1 series-tying victory.
City of Greenville approves contracts for new water plant, other infrastructure improvements
The Greenville City Council has approved contracts with several different businesses as part of a major, multi-year expansion and improvement of its water infrastructure. The Greenville Herald Banner reports at Tuesday’s (May 14) regular meeting of the council, the city agreed to contracts with the Dallas-based engineering firm Bartlett and West. Jobs will include a new (and second) water treatment plant, a $12.84 million project, and an expansion of infrastructure in the city’s industrial zone, costing $1.37 million. Also, a Parker County company, Hanson Professional Services, will be improving the city’s existing water treatment plant for $44.9 million.

Two killed in head on crash when driver goes wrong way at 59 and Quitman
HOUSTON (KIAH) – Police responded to a major moving vehicle accident (MVA) on Hwy 59 Eastex Frwy at Quitman around 3 a.m. They found a two-car collision, where a driver went the wrong way, going inbound in the outbound lane’s direction. Both drivers died on impact. Houston Police Department (HPD) is currently investigating.
