Large Natural Cover Fire in Edwards Area Keeps Firefighters Busy for Several Hours
A large natural cover fire in the area of State Road-FF and Lick Creek Road, in Edwards, keeps fire personnel busy for several hours Friday afternoon and into the evening. Northwest Chief Annette Sharp says the initial call was received shortly before 2:00. First arriving units discovered the fire rapidly spreading through the fields and wooded areas with flames, at times, 20-30 feet high and with five structures in immediate danger.

The task force, comprising deputies from the Horseshoe Bend Patrol District, officers from the Lake Area Narcotics Enforcement Group, and troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, executed a search warrant at a local residence off Bittersweet Road.

Two people wanted on warrants for not showing up to court are taken into custody in separate traffic stops in Camden County on Thursday by the highway patrol. The first happened shortly before 2:00 in the morning when 32-year-old Stesha Abmeyer, of Desoto, was picked up on misdemeanor warrants out of Phelps County.

90-Year-Old Crashes Into Tree On Route H
CAMDEN COUNTY, Mo. — A Richmand man was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon following a crash on Route H. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Robert Shockley, 90, was driving a 2001 Ford F250 when he reportedly failed to negotiate a curve, causing the truck to veer off the road and strike a tree Feb. 21. The crash happened near Bennett Road around 3:25 p.m.
