First Alert Forecast | Alert Day For Isolated Downpours
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - A swirling area of low pressure to our west will be slowly plodding eastward during the day. It has had a history of sparking a few flash flood warnings owing to how it can keep a steady rainfall overhead for too-long a time-frame. By the early afternoon, that swirl will now be overhead our region, sparking showers and storms that won’t move quickly across but instead just hang around. Not everyone will experience these showers, but the concern is for a downpour that overstays its welcome and causes spot flooding instead of watering the flowers. We’ve got the bicycle time trials going on today in Charleston, as well as the area baseball and softball playoff games. There can be that unlucky disruption, so be on your toes. Temperatures will stay in the lower 70s for much of the afternoon. By evening, we’ll see these showers taper off and quieter weather move in.
