ACPS interim superintendent faces ethics complaint over disclosures

The Florida Commission on Ethics has found probable cause that Alachua County Public Schools interim Superintendent Kamela Patton failed to timely file a required financial disclosure and did not properly disclose her interest in a limited liability company on two disclosure forms. During its Oct. 23 meeting, the commission found probable cause on allegations involving Patton’s 2023 Form 1 Statement of Financial Interests and her disclosure of Patton Solutions LLC on her 2023 and 2024 forms. The finding is not a final determination that Patton violated state ethics law. The case could proceed to an evidentiary hearing or potentially be resolved through a settlement before returning to the commission for final action. Patton has disputed the allegations, stating in the report that she was not properly notified of the requirement to file her 2023 disclosure and did not believe her financial interest in Patton Solutions met reporting requirements. The complaint was filed in June by Alachua County School Board member Janine Plavac after after reviewing Patton's financial disclosure forms. She later received an email from a citizen expressing similar concerns about Patton’s financial disclosures. "I am following the ongoing ethics investigation regarding Superintendent Patton," Plavac wrote in an Oct. 29

As Forest football began stacking up wins throughout 2026, all eyes in Marion County focused even harder on the season finale between the Wildcats and Vanguard as a battle for county supremacy. That game has finally arrived. The district-champion Knights and Wildcats give it a go to wrap up the Florida high school football regular season Friday, Oct. 30. The stats bear out an expected tight matchup. Final score comparisons are pretty equal, and Forest's win vs. Oakleaf in Week 9 legitimized its close loss to Buchholz a couple of weeks prior. Vanguard has steamrolled seven foes and had two narrow losses, in OT to Buchholz and a last-minute field goal at Jesuit. There is more intracounty football tonight as well: South Marion is at Belleview, with Trinity Catholic at Lake Weir. The Bears had their second loss by less than a touchdown last week, while Lake Weir hopes to bounce back after its first loss of 2026 last week to Vanguard. Welcome to the final regular season edition of Noah Doubt About It. Last week , Noah Doubt About It finished with a 15-3 (0.83) record for a 123-34 (0.78) mark in the 2026 season. Good luck to all in this Week 11! Buchholz (9-0) at Jacksonville-Bolles (6-2) Buchholz’s test finally comes this Friday in the form of a visit to Bolles. The Bulldogs are good. Xander Edwards is one of the best running backs in the Class of 2028, as is Jaxon Flowers at safety. However, Bolles have faced only three quality teams this season – and lost to two of them. Buchholz is ready for this fight, and their D-Line can shut down Edwards and an at-times suspect Bulldogs defense. Prediction : Buchholz 24, Bolles 21 Dunnellon (8-0) at Hawthorne (9-0) It’s a battle of unbeatens with vastly different resumes in eastern Alachua County.
