Loop Hotel Lender Sues to Halt LaSalle Street Apartment Conversion Above JW Marriott

The company managing the debt on Chicago's JW Marriott hotel has gone to court to stop construction crews from converting the office floors above it into apartments, after a power mishap allegedly knocked out the hotel's phones for more than four hours during a crunch of checkouts and check-ins. Torchlight Loan Services filed suit against developer Prime Group in Cook County Circuit Court, asking a judge to freeze work at 208 S. LaSalle until Prime secures the hotel's consent.

Draper and Kramer Acquires 268-Unit Albion Evanston Apartment Community in North Chicago Suburban Market of Evanston

CHICAGO, IL - National full-service real estate firm Draper and Kramer, Incorporated, today announced it has purchased a 268-unit luxury multifamily rental building in Evanston, Ill., a suburb directly north of Chicago and home to Northwestern University. The 15-story property, Albion Evanston, will be rebranded as Eva under Draper and Kramer’s ownership. Draper and Kramer will also assume property management of the community, which was 98.5% leased and 98% occupied at the time of acquisition.
