GCPS to Participate in the Community Eligibility Provision

Department of Public Instruction Office of School Nutrition recently informed Granville County Public Schools that students at all 16 GCPS schools have qualified for the Community Eligibility Provision. Durham man targeted Hispanic victims in 6 armed robberies over 5 days, police say
DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A Durham man was arrested in connection with six armed robberies this past week in which Hispanic victims were targeted, police said. Denshawn Stareek Thompson, 31, is charged with four counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, four counts of second-degree kidnapping, four counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, assault on a female, assault with a deadly weapon, and larceny from a person. More charges are possible, according to the Durham Police Department.

A stolen van from the Durham Rescue Mission on Friday crashed into a Raleigh convenience store, plowing through the glass double doors and ending up inside. Around 7:45 a.m., officers with the Raleigh Police Department responded to the Breeze Through 76 at 3405 Poole Road. A bomb squad responded, including a bomb squad robot, but no threat was found.

The Duke basketball program is still hunting for major prospects in the Class of 2025 but Meleek Thomas, a 5-star guard, will not be joining the Blue Devils. Thomas unveiled his Top-7 finalists this week which includes UConn, Kansas, Alabama, Pittsburgh, Auburn, Kansas State, and Arkansas.
