CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — The body pulled from the Pawtuxet River earlier this week has been identified as a Providence man who’s been missing for a month.

Cranston police said the body of 28-year-old Dante Williams was found Tuesday evening by a passing kayaker near the Mill Street railroad bridge.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, according to police. An autopsy conducted by the state medical examiner’s office revealed no signs of injury or trauma, and the manner and cause of his death was undetermined.

Williams was reported missing on April 15. Police learned he was involved in a crash the day before on I-95 North in Warwick, but he allegedly ran off toward the river before first responders arrived. Police said Williams did not have a license at the time of the crash.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Mr. Williams during this profoundly difficult time,” police said in a press release. “We extend our heartfelt sympathies for their loss.”
