TAUNTON — It may be hard to believe, but we're already 1/4 through the high school football regular season in the Greater Taunton area. In Week 2, Taunton (2-0) continued its early dominance with a second straight shutout as the Tigers downed Durfee 33-0 while Bridgewater-Raynham (0-2) was held scoreless in a 41-0 loss to Xaverian. Bristol-Plymouth (1-1) entered the win column as it defeated Upper Cape Tech 28-6 in its first "home" game at Taunton's Aleixo "Tiger" Stadium. Dighton-Rehoboth (0-2) fought hard but ultimately fell just short of Dennis-Yarmouth in a 34-32 back-and-forth battle.

NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. — In the first 10 minutes of Tuesday night’s boys soccer game between North Kingstown and Central Falls, Skippers forward Jake Pezza had three good scoring chances: one stopped by the goalie, one whistled back for offside and one broken up by a Central Falls defender who likely got away with a missed hand ball.

WARWICK, R.I. — While North Kingstown didn’t call a single run play in the first half, Bishop Hendricken didn’t complete a single pass. PROVIDENCE, R.I. — It took just one snap for the tone to be set and it didn’t favor the Mariners. Moses Brown’s senior running back, Myles Craddock, ran the first play from scrimmage 65 yards to the end zone. Then he scored again. And again, and again and again.

In a classic match-up between Rhode Island rivals, Brown University and Bryant University, fans witnessed an intensely competitive game that ended with a win for Brown. Historically, the scores in matches between these teams have been decided by just a handful of points.
