Tick season will be as bad as ever this summer

Tick season is expected to be as bad as ever this summer.

Veterinarian Dr. Mike Hutchinson with Animal General in Cranberry Township tells The Big K Morning Show that because we had a such a mild winter, may ticks survived and will be joined by a whole new population.

“It’s a nightmare,” said Dr. Mike. “There’s way, way too many ticks out there.

Lyme Disease, which is transmitted through tick bites, is now rampant throughout our region.

Avoid ticks by wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants and socks, especially in grassy, wooded areas.

Tuck your shirt into your pants and your pants into socks to block ticks from getting to your skin.

There are also many products, sprays, etc., that can be used on the skin and clothes to repel ticks.
