Trial set for shooter who allegedly injured De Queen officer in pursuit
DE QUEEN, Ark. – A man accused of shooting and wounding a De Queen police officer in a July pursuit has a trial date set for April 24. Kenneth Smith, of De Queen, has been charged with attempted capital murder, four counts of attempted murder, first-degree battery, and aggravated residential burglary, according to court documents.

De Queen woman dies when she's struck by parked vehicle
A De Queen pedestrian was killed Tuesday when she was struck by an unoccupied vehicle that had been hit by a pickup truck. According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, a 2007 GMC Sierra truck was southbound on South 9th Street in De Queen when it left the roadway and struck an unoccupied 2001 model Dodge Ram that was parked in a driveway. The Ram struck Cynthia Gutierrez, 70, who was killed.

MRHS selects Wood as official CEO
A lot of exciting things have happened the past few days at Mena Regional Health System (MRHS). Michael Wood, who has been serving as the interim CEO for MRHS since September 2023, is now officially the Chief Executive Officer. He follows Robert Rupp as CEO, who took over for Jay Quebedeaux. Prior to that, Wood was the director of rehab for MRHS.
