The Best Barbecue In The Midwest Is “Crafted” In This Humble Ohio Restaurant
In a small river town in Ohio, the smell of smoked meat drifts all the way down to the water’s edge, and the moment it hits you, your plans suddenly become very negotiable. I kept hearing locals talk about a barbecue spot in Marietta with the kind of loyalty you usually reserve for family recipes, and after my first visit, the hype made perfect sense.

The Ranch Kitchen opens with comfort food, events and expansion plans
ZANESVILLE – Sometimes plans change. So don't be surprised when The Ranch Country Kitchen + Market on Northpointe Drive, set to officially open March 10, works to introduce a pub and dancefloor next door instead. "We kind of switched it up a little when we decided to put in a dancefloor and whatnot," said owner Andrea Campbell, a Nashport native. The pub and dancefloor area is still undergoing remodeling and will include pool tables. It's expected to open around four to six weeks after the restaurant, Andrea estimated. The country kitchen itself has around 2,000 square feet, a bar in the front, a bar top in the back for diners, several types of tables, and a side vestibule for private parties. The space will double to 4,000 once the pub opens. As the name might imply, The Ranch won't hold many menu surprises. It'll feature homemade country-comfort classics like beef and noodles, sausage gravy and biscuits, chicken pot pie, stuffed peppers, breakfast casserole, cinnamon rolls baked steak, sandwiches and burgers. It'll also have daily specials and a soup of the day. The Ranch is located at 3949 Northpointe Drive. It'll be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday

The Breathtaking Ohio State Park That Should Be Your Top 2026 Scenic Escape
There is a corner of Ohio where the hills roll deep, the forest canopy swallows the sky, and the only sound you hear is the wind moving through old hardwood trees. I had driven past southern Ohio plenty of times without stopping, and honestly, that was a mistake I will not be repeating.

The Mine Tavern works to rebuild
NELSONVILLE, Ohio — In the aftermath of a devastating structural collapse, the owners of The Mine Tavern are working to rebuild with help from the community. On Feb. 15, The Mine Tavern suffered a partial structural collapse when a six foot section of the brick wall extending from the ground to the roof collapsed, as previously reported by The Messenger. The Mine Tavern is the second-oldest tavern in Ohio and has been in continuous operation since 1842, Patrick Norway, the manager of The Mine Tavern, said. Norway and his parents purchased the tavern three years ago from previous owner Joseph Koker and are the eighth family to own the tavern since it opened in the 19th century. Prior to purchasing the tavern, the Norways owned a construction and excavation business. However, Norway and his mother’s health issues resulted in the family searching for other business opportunities that weren’t as physically demanding, he explained. “My brother first started working here and when he had his child, he pursued a different [career] and I stepped in a little bit when the construction business was slow in the wintertime,” Norway said. The collapse took place while Norway’s father was cleaning and heard a
