Is there anything more wholesome than interspecies friendships? I'm not just talking about the bond between humans and pets- though as a proud pet parent myself, I would never discount their importance. There's something inspiring and precious when two animals from vastly different species form bonds with each other- it's basically Disney movie material.

That isn't an exaggeration, by the way. This adorable scene from an Oregon backyard could have been lifted straight from Bambi . An Oregon man was in the right place at just the right time to shoot the perfect video of a baby deer and a gray bunny rabbit playing together on his back porch!

A homeowner in #Oregon was treated to an adorable sight when a real-life #Bambi and #Thumper paid his backyard a special visit. šŸ˜šŸ°šŸ¦Œ

The reporter from @abc7la said it best: this is just Bambie and Thumper in real life, down to the coloring of their fur! The playful fawn and bouncy bunny were hanging out together like two best friends , sniffing each other, making playful gestures, and at one point, looking as if they were stealing a little kiss. Life imitates art!

According to The Mercury , the video was shot in Coos Bay, Oregon, a town on Oregon's Pacific coastline that's surrounded by state parks and national forests . With all that wide open space for native wildlife to roam free, it's incredible that an animal interaction as unlikely and adorable as this one would happen right on somebody's back porch! Some people just have all the luck.

Deer and Bunnies As Best Friends

This isn't the first time a Bambi-and-Thumper-esque pairing has drawn the adoration of the internet. Last year, People Magazine covered the story of Afra and Alice , a similar deer and bunny dynamic duo that stole hearts around the world after becoming best friends at the Chase Sanctuary and Wildlife Conservancy in central Florida.

Afra was a 4-year-old orphaned deer (really hitting the Bambi parallels again) who had lived at the animal sanctuary since she was two, and Alice was a former pet bunny rabbit who arrived at the sanctuary around the same time as Afra. According to People , the pair instantly bonded with each other, spending their days grazing through their habitat and their nights snuggling up together. It doesn't get much cuter than that.

When you've got a shared love of grazing, bounding happily through green meadows, and staying far afield of predator animals, I suppose there's plenty of common ground for a friendship to blossom. We love to see a friendship blossoming in real time!
