Suspect charged in connection with Ramos murder
A Fairfield man has been charged in connection with the murder of Denise Lissette Ramos, 22. Julian Jefferson, 20, has been charged with capital murder. Jefferson, who is stationed at a naval base in California, is currently in federal custody on a charge for a crime unrelated to Ramos’ murder. Ramos, also of Fairfield, did not show up to her job on March 28. A welfare check performed by the Fairfield Police Department led to the residence of 800 Clark St., where Ramos’ body was found. FPD worked with the Texas Rangers, DPS and NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Services) to uncover evidence that linked Jefferson to Ramos’ death. He is awaiting extradition to Texas for his capital murder trial.

The students credited her for going above and beyond to bring valuable resources to them and for working tirelessly to provide every possible opportunity for them to pursue their dreams and goals.GEAR UP, which stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, is a seven-year federal initiative aimed at increasing early college awareness, readiness, and success for low-income and historically underrepresented students. Tami Kadlacek's commitment to this program has evidently left a profound impact on the students she has worked with.
Bistone Youth Volleyball Honors Seniors
Bi-Stone Youth Volleyball Organization expressed their gratitude towards their seniors for their dedication and service by presenting them with a thoughtful graduation gift at Groesbeck Class Night, May 21. It's evident that these seniors have contributed significantly to the success of the organization and their commitment has not gone unnoticed. The Bi-Stone Youth Volleyball organization is looking to the future and has set its sights on establishing a scholarship fund. This fund will be aimed at supporting future graduates who exemplify the same level of hard work and dedication that the seniors have demonstrated. The intention behind this initiative is to provide recognition and support to deserving individuals who have shown a strong commitment to Bi-Stone Youth Volleyball. Groesbeck Chamber Awards First-Ever Scholarships
The Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of their first-ever scholarship, awarded to two Groesbeck High School seniors on May 21 at Groesbeck Class Night. Hadyn Getz and Wesley Bush were each awarded a $500 scholarship. This scholarship highlights the chamber’s commitment to supporting the educational pursuits of local students and nurturing future leaders in our business economy. All of this was made possible from donations by our community through fundraisers conducted by the chamber. The school year is officially over. The past several weeks, I have attended multiple banquets and the students in Freestone County have earned some amazing honors this year. Graduation for Fairfield and Teague are tomorrow Friday, May 24. I want to wish all of the graduates the best in all of their future endeavors. I had the honor of attending the Fairfield scholarship ceremony and they awarded over $1.1 million in scholarships.
