Gloomy weather continues across most of West Texas, but Meteorologist Ryan DePhillips highlights the rain exiting the eastern Basin, signaling a weather pattern change that will slowly start to commence. Patchy mist will develop tonight into Sunday morning as temperatures will drop into the high 30’s, 40’s, and low 50’s, below normal for this time of year. While more stable weather will win out higher up in the atmosphere, lingering clouds and below-normal temperatures with relatively high humidity and northeasterly persistent winds will accompany much of The Basin during the day tomorrow. Temperatures will eventually only reach the high 40’s, 50’s, and low 60’s for most while higher temperatures will be confined around the southwestern areas of The Trans Pecos in The Rio Grande region. Sunshine and higher temperatures will creep back in during the workweek.

GHS Cheerleaders and Mascots announced
Groesbeck High School has recently completed its annual cheerleading and mascot tryouts. Held on Saturday, April 13, the event saw a number of talented students vying for a spot on the varsity and junior varsity cheerleading squads, as well as for the coveted position of the high school mascot. After a rigorous selection process, the judges announced the names of the successful candidates. Lyric Hargrove was chosen as the mascot for the upcoming season. The 2024-2025 Groesbeck High School Varsity Cheerleading Squad will consist of Brittyn Bradley, Chloe Crane, Ayahna Dunn, Kaylee Flippin, Kimbrey Hileman, Mallory Meyer, Landrie Pringle, Carly Scott, Allie Verm, and Kaydence Worsham. Meanwhile, the 2024-2025 Junior Varsity Cheerleading Squad will include Gracie deCordova, Korina Dixon, Kaira Hargrove, Kara Masters, Raylee Masters, Amaya Ray, Ava Sadler, Hannah Slater, and Kealey Trojacek.
