Massachusetts Woman Sentenced for Civil Rights Conspiracy at D.C. Health Clinic
Paula Paulette Harlow, a 75-year-old from Kingston, Massachusetts, was handed a two-year prison sentence today for her involvement in a conspiracy that disrupted a Washington, D.C. reproductive health clinic. Harlow, along with nine other participants, was convicted of civil rights conspiracy and offenses under the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, according to the Department of Justice.
Amid community backlash, Board rules to transfer Franconia building to Housing Authority
The Board of Supervisors approved the transfer of the property that houses the Franconia Governmental Center to the Fairfax County Redevelopment and Housing Authority to build subsidized affordable housing units in a “decision only” 8-1-1 vote despite widespread opposition from residents of the district. Springfield District Supervisor Pat Herrity voted no due to public opposition by nine HOAs and other community members, and Hunter Mill District Supervisor Walter Alcorn abstained because he was not present for the public testimonies in January due to illness.
