COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A defendant charged with murdering a man at a west Columbus gym will spend nearly two dozen years in prison, possibly longer.

Tae Von Bush, 19, was found guilty of fatally shooting 23-year-old Tabias Cunningham at Esporta Fitness on Tanglewood Park Boulevard on the Far West Side of Columbus. According to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office, Bush was found guilty on two counts of murder and was sentenced to serve 23 years to life in prison.

The shooting occurred around 9 p.m. when Cunningham had just finished a basketball game. Bush, who was waiting for the next game, reportedly approached Cunningham. An argument ensued and Bush pulled out a gun.

Officers arrived and found Cunningham suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was transported to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead just before 9:40 p.m.

Police believed Bush was one of two people who ran out of the back of the building. He was arrested two weeks later.
