As spring practices have come to a close, many college football experts have started releasing post-spring predictions for the upcoming 2024 season.

ESPN's Greg McElroy was joined by Matt Barrie to discuss the landscape of college football entering the summer months. McElroy made his case for Ohio State being the No. 1 team in college football over the Georgia Bulldogs.

"A lot of debate is already being had about who the best team in college football is going into 2024. I have been outspoken in thinking that it's Ohio State at the moment," McElroy said.

"I think Georgia's close, but I still think Ohio State has a few more answers on both sides of the ball given some of the departures that Georgia lost on offense with Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers being gone."

The Buckeyes return multiple key contributors on both sides of the ball, headlined by defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau and running back Tre'Veyon Henderson. Ohio State finished last season 11-2 but ended the season with a loss against Missouri in the Cotton Bowl.

Ohio State landed one of the best transfer classes in the nation, including Kansas State quarterback Will Howard. The Buckeyes also signed the last two SEC Freshman of the Year winners, Alabama's Caleb Downs and Ole Miss' Quinshon Judkins.

Ohio State will kick off the 2024 season against Akron on Aug. 31 in Columbus. The Buckeyes are looking to win their first national title since 2014.
