COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A beloved “manager cat” at a local brewery diagnosed with cancer has raised nearly $10,000 for charities, as the feline is expecting to make a full recovery and return to work soon.

In March , Columbus-staple Seventh Son Brewing revealed in a social media post that Horatio, also known as the brewery’s assistant manager cat, was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma. The announcement came after the cat had been facing health issues since November, when employees noticed a lump on his back leg.

Horatio has been a beloved neighborhood cat since shortly after Seventh Son opened when the feline wandered onto the brewery’s patio as a kitten. Over the past ten years, he has become a local celebrity at the brewery and even has a beer named after him.

“He’s been our all-natural pest control, friend and mascot almost from the time that we opened up,” Seventh Son co-founder Collin Castore said in March. “He’s a really great guy. All our guests love him, our staff loves him.”

Horatio recently finished 19 radiation treatments and is expected to make a full recovery, Castore said. The tabby cat will likely return to work within the next few weeks.

“There is still a chance the cancer can come back, but his [chances] are looking pretty good,” Castore said.

When Horatio was diagnosed, Castore organized a GoFundMe to help with the cost of his treatments. Fifty percent of proceeds have been going toward Horatio’s treatment, and the other half is being split between UC Davis’ Feline Cancer Research Fund and Ellie’s Rainy Day Fund. The brewery also began selling a $15 fundraising glass with an etching of Horatio’s face, splitting the proceeds the same way as the GoFundMe.

Castore said Horatio is “very proud” that he helped raise $9,200 for the research and rainy day funds. Once the GoFundMe, which has raised just over $15,500, reaches its $20,000 goal, all remaining proceeds will go to the charity funds. Castore said he will keep the GoFundMe and commemorative glass going as long as people still want to donate.

“Thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far, and he’s doing great,” Castore said. “He’s a happy guy.”

As Horatio awaits his return to work, he has been bird-watching, napping and binge-watching TV with his foster family. He has also been hanging out with his new puppy roommate, Bodhi.
