    Warrant issued for son of man found decomposed in bedroom of a Columbus residence in 2023

    Columbus police are looking for the son of a man they found dead and decomposing in a house last year.

    Police have established probable cause and issued a murder warrant for Samuel Haynes. He is the son of a Billy Haynes, who was found decomposed in the bedroom of a Columbus residence last year, according to police.

    Police said they responded on November 19, 2023, to the 1000 block of Lawyers Lane for a welfare check for Billy Haynes.

    Responding officers discovered a male decomposed in the bedroom who was identified as Billy Haynes, according to a press release.

    An autopsy revealed he died from stab/puncture wounds, according to police.

    “Evidence was collected from the scene and several items were sent to the GBI Crime Lab for processing,” police said.
