Decision day has arrived for Erlanger (Ky.) Lloyd Memorial class of 2025 three-star power forward EJ Walker, a priority South Carolina men’s basketball target.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Walker will announce his decision tonight, Friday, May 24, at 6 p.m. The announcement will be streamed live on his Instagram @ejwalker._.
It’s a Big Ten battle for the Gamecocks to land Walker, who has a final four of South Carolina, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Purdue.

Walker took an official visit to South Carolina on the last weekend of March.
He is ranked the No. 125 overall prospect, the No. 28 power forward, and No. 2 prospect in Kentucky for the 2025 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average for the four major recruiting media sites.
The Gamecocks currently have two commits for the 2025 class, Hickory (N.C.) Moravian Prep four-star shooting guard Eli Ellis and Greenville (S.C.) Powdersville PF Hayden Assemenian.
They’ll hope to add a third with tonight’s announcement.

There’s never been a lack of basketball talent in the state of South Carolina.
Consistently keeping that homegrown talent in the Palmetto State to suit up for the Gamecocks has been a different story.
But due to the efforts of South Carolina men’s basketball coach Lamont Paris and Special Assistant to the Head Coach Carey Rich, the narrative about whether or not the Gamecocks can take care of their home state in recruiting is shifting after South Carolina landed G.G. Jackson, Collin Murray-Boyles and Cam Scott in consecutive classes.

Scott, who flipped from Texas to South Carolina last month, told GamecockCentral that it wasn’t lost on him that he could be a part of a special trio of prospects to come out of the Midlands and play for the Gamecocks.
“To be the tail of it now, that’s something, we all grew up together, we all grew up playing against each other, so it’s something that we’ve actually discussed,” Scott said. “Me and my family, we used to talk about it all the time. Like, hey, you could be playing together potentially. You and Collin could be playing together potentially.
“But for me and Collin, just to see it all coming together right now, it’s kind of crazy because two, three years ago, we were ready to play against each other. So just now being able to be on the same team and work together towards a bigger goal, it’s going to be an honor to play with him.”
