Two new retail spots have opened in Columbia’s Vista neighborhood.

Farmer’s Market Xchange, an artisan market by Toms Creek Farms offering fresh deli meats and cheeses, fresh baked goods and coffee opened at 912 Lady St. last week.

Owners Hatice Hikmet and Ezgi Pheasant were recognized at a grand opening event last week.

“Farmer’s Market Xchange is a great addition to the Vista. With fresh fruits and vegetables, ready-to-eat options, a coffee shop and pastries, that have everything you need whether you work, live or visit here,” said Congaree Vista Guild Executive Director Abby Anderson in a news release. “They also have a nice seating area so it’s great for small meetings.”

A grand opening and ribbon-cutting event for Bitty & Beau’s Coffee at 1001 Gervais St. will be held May 4, according to a news release. For the event, the 1200 block of Park Street will be closed and there will be free giveaways, face painting and live music.

Bitty & Beau’s Coffee began in Wilmington, N.C., and now has stores across the country employing 400-plus individuals with disabilities, according to the release. They serve a wide variety of coffee drinks, teas and smoothies as well as light breakfast fare and sweets.

The founders of Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, Amy and Ben Wright, launched their business with the mission to “show the world what’s possible when businesses innovate around people with disabilities in the workplace. It’s more than a cup of coffee,” the release stated.
