A post related to a gender reveal is causing a stir in a local Colorado hiking community.

The post, published on May 16 by Facebook user Matt Miessen, features a series of images captured at the Bruin Trailhead in Colorado Springs' North Cheyenne Cañon – a popular outdoor recreation destination of the Pikes Peak region.

Images accompanying the post show litter strewn about the area, blue in color and presumably from some sort of gender reveal. Streamers can be seen tangled in tree limbs and confetti can be seen on the ground.

As might be expected, the post has gotten more than 20 comments from concerned members of the Colorado Springs hiking community within a couple of hours, with the scene called "inconsiderate," "trashy," and "infuriating," among many other negative descriptions.

Actions by those who left the trash behind obviously go against the most basic principles of Leave No Trace.

The big takeaway here is simple – want to host a 'gender reveal' party in a natural space? Go for it. But don't leave trash behind or permanently alter the space in anyway – and that goes for any type of celebration or get-together.

Always be considerate of those who come behind and gather in a sustainable way.
