Woman Found Dead Near River Bank in Colonial Heights

Colonial Heights, Va. (Newsradiowrva.com) - The Colonial Heights Police Department is investigating after a 36-year-old woman was found dead in the water at Roslyn Landing Park.

At around 5 a.m. on Thursday, April 18, police responded to Roslyn Landing Park for a report of a body in the water. When officers arrived, they found a woman dead in the water near the bank of the river with a gunshot wound.

Police say a citizen that was on a boat in the river reported hearing what they believed to be a gunshot and then a splash into the water. The park was closed to investigate the death.

The victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination. Police have not yet identified the person nor disclosed information about a possible cause of death.
